Fire Poi a New Vacation Adventure

Are you looking for something new to do that requires dedication and determination? Are you seeking a new and different sort of adventure? Well, I was and I think I found the perfect thing on my recent vacation. Sure, you can go to a tropical island and scuba dive, swim, maybe even learn to hula dance. While you are there you can also so to a luau or some other type of "island" entertainment and be amazed by the actions of the dancers and performers using fire poi. How would you like to learn to actually use these fire poi balls and amaze and entertain your friends and yourself? Why not make your vacation in paradise a learning experience? There are schools that offer classes in this art.

Fire poi involves balls on flexible material that are held in your hands and swung in circular patterns. It originally started in New Zealand as a performance art by the Maori people over 3000 years ago. Today it has developed into a hobby and exercise program also.

The programs for fire poi last anywhere from a week to a month. A week program will get you started on the basics while a month (4 week) program will make you an expert. They teach you all the basic skills you need to know including fire safety along with the moves that make up the actual fire poi "show". This includes things such as weaves, which are one of the basic moves. Other moves such as butterflies and wraps, which are progressively more difficult and stem from the basic weave moves you will learn. If you take one of the longer courses you will learn moves such as flower and further tricks like hyperloops and advanced spinners where the poi are passed behind your back and under your leg.

I wanted something new and interesting on my last vacation and this was really the perfect thing. Throw in a little surfing, scuba diving and yoga to relax along with your fire poi class and it's a perfect time. Many schools offer all of these courses and more. They are definitely something to consider for a new adventure!
